CIRCULAR ECONOMY AND SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT: THE ROLE OF THE ASSOCIATION OF SOLID WASTE RECYCLERS IN THE SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT OF BREJO SANTO - CE

This research project focuses on solid waste management in the municipality of Brejo Santo, Ceará, and provides an in-depth analysis of the role of the Brejo Santo Recycling Agents Association (ARBRESA). Given the continued growth in waste generation in Brazil, the study aims to analyze the solid waste recycling process in the municipality of Brejo Santo, Ceará, investigating its compliance with and contribution to the targets of SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) of the UN 2030 Agenda. The methodology adopts a qualitative and quantitative approach, configuring a descriptive-explanatory case study with an exploratory and interventional approach. Data collection will be conducted through triangulation, combining bibliographic, documentary, and field research, using instruments such as participant observation, questionnaires, and semi-structured interviews. The research is expected to present a comprehensive analysis of the recycling process in Brejo Santo, demonstrating the relevance of ARBRESA's work for sustainable waste management in the city. The results should indicate whether the current process effectively contributes to achieving target 11.6 of SDG 11, which aims to reduce the negative per capita environmental impact of cities.
