SUMMARY:

This dissertation investigates logic as a tool for developing critical thinking in basic education, focusing on its discursive, pragmatic, and situated dimensions. It starts from a critique of formalist approaches that tend to reduce logic to the manipulation of abstract symbols, disregarding the communicational and social contexts in which arguments are produced, evaluated, and validated. The theoretical framework articulates contributions from informal logic (Walton, Toulmin, Perelman), philosophy of language (Austin, Searle, Haack, Millikan), and critical border epistemologies (Freire, hooks, Anzaldúa, Boaventura de Sousa Santos), aiming to construct a conception of logic that acknowledges its condition as a social, linguistic, and political practice. Understanding that critical thinking is not merely a cognitive act, but a political and existential movement, I present as a pedagogical product the manual “Logic to Disobey with Reason”, designed to empower high school students as critical readers and authors, capable of confronting fallacies, discursive manipulations, and the oppressive structures that operate both in discourse and in society. Logic, in this perspective, is repositioned not as a submission to rules but as a practice of conscious, rigorous, and purposeful disobedience. The research adopts a qualitative, applied approach, based on theoretical-conceptual analysis and the development of methodological resources for teaching philosophy and logic in basic education.
